If you live in Northeast Mississippi and need a great place to volunteer, or if you need volunteers – Volunteer Northeast Mississippi is the place to go!

In April, the CREATE Foundation and United Way of Northeast Mississippi launched a new initiative that will make it easier for volunteers to find opportunities to help their communities and for area nonprofit organizations to recruit valuable volunteers.

Volunteer Northeast Mississippi is now the community hub for volunteer involvement in Alcorn, Benton, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Clay, Itawamba, Lee, Marshall, Monroe, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo, and Union Counties.

CREATE Foundation Communications Director Albine Bennett knew the area needed a solution to the constant requests she received for volunteer opportunities. After sharing some initial community feedback with Create President Mike Clayborne, the decision was made to seek out partnerships with United Way and Volunteer Mississippi to create a community hub.

“Volunteer Northeast Mississippi is a place where everyone in our area can go to find what volunteer opportunities are available and where all of our nonprofit partners and other organizations can post their needs in one centralized place,” said Melinda Tidwell, president of United Way of Northeast Mississippi in a press release on Tuesday.

Nonprofit organizations can now post volunteer opportunities on a new online platform created for the project by GiveGab at; and volunteers can visit the site to view available volunteer opportunities and find options closest to home.

“We know this will become an invaluable resource to our community and are looking forward to sharing it with everyone,” Bennett said.
